It's not what you have in life, but who you have that counts.

Iowa Energy

Last week we took the girls to see the Iowa Energy basketball game at Wells Fargo Arena. One of Kami's friends, Xavier, was singing the National Anthem so we all decided to go and hear him. While we were there, Shawn Johnson was there posing for pictures so Ashlynn met her.

Car vs. Pole

Well...................................................................Kami was driving to school and the pole jumped into the road in front of her !?!?!?!? It was a beautiful, short lived, first car.

Now what!?!?

So, o.k.....is it just me, or is anyone else ready for summer? The ER just called me from Methodist and told me that Ashlynn does in fact have strep throat too. It came back negative on Saturday, but apparently the sample "grew" at the lab, and yep, it's strep....which is actually good news for her....meds and relief here she comes......the Kile family is ready for summer!

Oh, no.....not again!!

Well, H1N1 has hit the Kile household again, this time with Ashlynn. Last night we were in the ER at Methodist with a temp of 104.2. (I don't like temps of 104 in little people! 101....fine. 102.....fine. 104....scary).
Anyway, when we got to the ER we checked in and were taken to the nurses station to be evaluated. We were then handed a green card which informed us that red meant immediate help, yellow meant priority and green meant, basically, we'll see you in an hour, get comfy. That doesn't sit well with a mom who doesn't like temps of 104, but what can you do.
While we were getting comfy for our hour wait, in the waiting room, as we were looking around, we noticed people were coughing, babies were crying, the room was packed and that lots of people had masks on. Needless to say, what a horrible place to be if you were not sick. It was like tempting fate! So I went to the counter where they had masks that they "strongly recommend" people wear. So the four of us put on masks, which Matt then dubbed us as the duck family. We told Ashlynn we could all have our pics taken for Christmas in them and send them out to see if people knew it was us.
Kami was appalled when she looked over and saw a lady walk in with a bucket. Kami leaned close to me and said, "Do people actually walk in with a bucket? Just so you know, she throws up and I'm out of here." (Bucket lady had a green card to).
Anyway, after ruling out strep (which I thought for sure it was) H1N1 it is for Ashlynn. So, another day of lysoling everything standing still, motrin/tylenol rotation, pillow and blanket disinfecting. And, oh yeah, can't let her eat ice cream alone......

H1N1

Well........H1N1 has hit the Kile family. Kami was diagnosed Friday with it......so they're treating the whole family with medication, even though she's the only one with any signs of it. So....this weekend we are locked inside to clean.......bake.......manicures/pedicures......movies......and spraying Lysol on anything that is standing still. We're waiting for the fever to break and cough to stop and praying that no one else comes down with the symptoms.

VOLLEYBALL!!

This Saturday Kami had a volleyball tournament in Johnston. She plays for Lincoln's JV team. They played hard for 8 hours....they came in third in their pool. She's number 4.

AAAUUUGGHHHH.......16!!

AAAAUUUGGGHHHH! My baby is 16!! If any of you saw the paper last Sunday, you may have seen the baby picture we put into the Iowa Life section. It seems like only yesterday she was that little. Well.............she's 16 now and has her license. So, if you see a two door red Cavalier driving around the southside, be careful (just kidding, she's a good driver).

Worlds of Fun!

For Kami's 16th birthday, we rented a van and took her and three friends, plus Ashlynn and a friend to Worlds of Fun in KC. We arrived at 10:00 AM and left at 8:00 PM. TEN HOURS! They had a blast!!

My Goddaughter!

BEAUTIFUL!

Congratulations Kami!!

CONGRATULATIONS KAMI! On September 15th, we attended the Academic Letter Recognition at Lincoln High School. For all of her hard work as a freshmen, Kami received a Letter for her 3.8 grade point average.......so proud of her!!

WOW.....18 years ago today......

Today is our 18th year Anniversary. It all started in the summer of 1990 when we met at the Lake of the Ozarks....Matt was leaving in 2 months for the United States Air Force and I was going to be entering my senior year of high school. Throughout that year we stayed in contact through letters and the occasional phone call. After graduating from Dowling, I moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he was stationed.....and the rest is history.

This picture is of homecoming 1990, a couple weeks before he left for Basic Training....wow....we haven't changed a bit :)

A Mini-Vaca

This weekend, the girls and I went to the Mall of America with Marilyn. We survived eleven straight hours of shopping.... even in eleven hours, we didn't come close to accomplishing the whole mall!! While we were there, Demi Lovato, from "Sonny With A Chance" and "Camp Rock" was there signing autographs......the girls didn't get anywhere close to her, but they saw her from afar. At night we soaked our feet in the hotel hot tub. It was a great weekend away before school starts!

Waiting and waiting and waiting in line for the rides!!

So many rides, so little time! Ashlynn says that the Fairy Odd Coaster was the best because it sits four people and while you're on the roller coaster it spins in a circle. Kami says that the Air Bender was the best ride. It was a giant skateboard that swings back and forth several stories off the ground (kind of like the Galleon at Adventureland), but while you're sitting in your seat, the seat spins....nope, not for me....I just take the pictures!

One of Ashlynn's highlights was shopping in the American Girl Store. She bought her first American Girl Doll, Chrissa!

After a long day of shopping, we ate at the Rainforest Cafe in the Mall.

A Day At the Indianola Pool

Yesterday Ashlynn had a friend over and there's no better way to spend a hot afternoon than at the pool.
Ashlynn and her best friend......
Ashlynn hopes it's not that cold!!

What's a trip to the pool without ice cream??

A Mini-Vacation at Rathbun Lake

This past weekend we took a mini-vacation to Rathbun Lake to hang out with friends....the water was very choppy, but that didn't stop us from the beach or the jet skis....it was nice to getaway for a day!

Kami and her friend are ready for the lake!

And they're off! Have fun ladies!
